Exposed concrete floors need breathable protection. Staining agents and acidic liquids that can etch the surface (including many food substances such as pickle juice or fresh fruits) can permanently damage decorative concrete appearance. Liquid water may dilute concrete dyes, causing a faded appearance. But a protective layer must still allow water vapor to escape from the slab freely.

Lythic’s stain protection products take protection to the next level with Reactive Colloidal Silica. It improves the bond of the stain protection layer, and adds toughness to the floor that other stain protectors do not.

Lythic Protector

Lythic Protector advances the effectiveness of traditional stain protectors by adding Reactive Colloidal Silica to an acrylic co polymer. When applied it bonds additional silica to the concrete, further fortifying it against abrasion and increasing traction. The silica boost also fills in the pores further, extending the improvements made by Lythic Densifier and increasing the slab’s resistance to liquid penetration. It forms a tight bond between stain protector and concrete for a long-lasting, reliable application. Lythic Protector also contains lithium for increased water repellency.

Lythic Protector brings out the color in integrally pigmented, stained or dyed concrete, giving a slight “wet look” that works excellently with exposed aggregate. It cures for foot traffic within 24 hours, and improves slip resistance. It is shipped as a concentrate to save on shipping costs and environmental impacts.

Lythic SPD Protector

Lythic SPD Protector is a cutting-edge innovation in stain protection for concrete floors. SPD – Silica Polymer Dispersion – combines a water-borne modified polymers with Reactive Colloidal Silica. It is a breathable, densifying sealer that forms a tough, clear, tightly adherent protection layer.

It has lab-tested performance unmatched in the industry. Testing performed with strong acid, and with oil, proved it protected the concrete from all permanent damage for a full 24 hours of exposure. (Other stain protectors typically give an hour or two of stain delay, allowing for prompt cleanup, but no more.) Yet it is thin enough to maintain the look and feel of exposed concrete.

SPD Protector not only protects longer against spills of acids (such as vinegar or fresh fruit), oils, and other staining agents, but it lasts longer. Its longer service life between recoatings saves labor, expense, and minimizes disruption of service.

SPD Protector is easy to apply, dries within two hours, and can be burnished to a deep gloss in 12-24 hours. Its highly resilient surface re-shines easily with lightweight burnishing or scrubbing machines to help maintain a glossy, clean, attractive appearance for the life of the product. It is warranted not to peel.
